Operational Guarding Vacancies

Providing the application form reaches us prior to the vacancy being filled and is complete with no employment or reference gaps, all suitable candidates will be invited to attend our Newport office for an interview and assessment. The assessment will consist of talking through various scenarios, and an observation exercise where you will be expected to write an incident report as if in a live scenario. Details of all applicants including those unsuccessful will be held on file for 6 months from the date of application. If we feel a suitable opening in the company becomes vacant, we will endeavour to make contact before advertising the post. There is no need to apply multiple times during this time period. Applications from persons dismissed from K9 Protection Ltd within the last six years will not be considered. The names of people who fail to attend an interview with us will be held on file for two years and will not be offered a further opportunity to apply to us during this time. Should you arrive late for your interview, we reserve the right to cancel the interview at the interviewer's discretion. There is no need to apply multiple times for the same role. It does not progress your application any quicker.

Information

£9.50 per hour.
Holiday Pay earned at 12.07% of hours worked.

No fixed hours. Ability to pick and choose from available shifts.

You will be required to have your licence physically in your possession when you attend interview. Whilst we are going to need the additional staff, we still need people to pass vetting to British Standard BS7858 prior to deployment.

During this time, interviews will be held in our Newport office with one of our management team. We ask applicants to contact us to rearrange, should they have been asked to self-isolate within the 14 days prior to the interview, and to be understanding that we may do the same.

Role Detail

Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak, a number of clients are preparing for contingency closures requiring around the clock guarding services which are going to stretch our short-term capacity. We are looking for capable and competent guards who can work with us during this time to ensure we can provide the level of cover our clients require.

The majority of our sites are construction based, with some student housing and front desk concierge tasks. We're looking for people to muck in and get the job done, and for the right people this will undoubtedly lead to further work.

The shifts will be offered on a bid-based system, and fairness will be applied to ensure they are spread as evenly as possible, factoring in things such as length of service, punctuality, and site familiarisation. Shift lengths range from 4 to 15 hours, dependent on site, location, and your location and transport methods.

About You

An SIA licence in either guarding or door supervision is essential.

A people-friendly demeanour with the ability to take a firm but fair approach. Many of our clients are public facing, high profile businesses, so the ability to project a positive lasting impression on behalf of our clients is essential - even when dealing with unauthorised persons on site.

Being able to speak, and write in English is essential, and other languages would be advantageous.

Patrolling is part of all of our roles, and as such we use a digital patrol management and lone worker application to track guard movements. Some sites are supported by remotely monitored cameras and you may be required to liaise with the various monitoring stations to inform them of your patrols.

K9 Protection welcome applications from former military staff and will accommodate operational deployment for members of the Armed Forces Reserves
