Environmental Policy

K9 Protection Ltd accepts responsibility for the harmful effects its operations have on both the local and global environment and is committed to reducing them.

K9 Protection Ltd will measure its impact on the environment and set targets for on-going improvement.

As a business, K9 Protection Ltd do no believe that climate change is a significant result of their business processes, however we will look to reduce our impact on the environment wherever possible as part of this policy.

K9 Protection Ltd will look at the following specific areas in addition to our environmental impact as a whole:

  • Motor-vehicles: K9 Protection will ensure all vehicles are maintained and use the most efficient fuel available. When new vehicles are sourced, their environmental impact will be taken in to account. Where trackers are fitted to company vehicles, the tracking information will be used to encourage driving in an environmentally sound way.
  • Stationery: Where possible, K9 Protection will aim to reduce the paper used, and will actively encourage staff to use electronic communications methods where possible and practical to do so. Unless expressly required, K9 Protection will provide clients with reporting in an electronic format. When printer ink and toner cartridges are expired, they will be recycled separately. Where possible, recycled paper stock will be used in place of virgin materials.
  • Technology: K9 Protection will only source electrical equipment and circuitry from mercury-free sources, and will take power consumption of infrastructure devices in to account. When our technology reaches end of life, we will responsibly recycle devices, where possible to benefit of the local community.
  • Plastics: K9 Protection will make reasonable endeavours to reduce our use of single-use plastics including but not limited to cable ties, cutlery and single use drink bottles.
  • Electricity Usage: We will endeavour to keep our electricity usage at the lowest practical level. We will do this by ensuring devices are turned off when not required (including air conditioners and lights), and by including environmental footprint as a purchasing criterion for new devices as above.
  • Uniform: When uniform reaches the end of its practical life, where possible it will be de-branded and offered to the local homeless community organisations for their uses.
  • General recycling: As a business we will take all efforts to ensure that our waste output is split down in to appropriate recycling groupings and is recycled accordingly, specific categories to ourselves are:
    • Cardboard & paper (including packaging). We ensure separate shredders are used for both paper and plastic cards.
    • Cans & Plastics – We separate metals and plastics in to a recycling bin.
    • Battery waste – Both domestic and industrial batteries are stored for recycling and “weighed in” to a licensed processing plant when the need arises.
    • Small electrical – Where there is no “spare part” value in small electrical items they will be stripped of any data and disposed of with a licensed waste disposal agent.

The Company will comply with all relevant environmental legislation.

The following categories of waste will be recycled separately.

  • Paper (both shredded and un-shredded)
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic, cans & glass
  • Batteries

The Company will work with their staff to ensure that all staff members take reasonable steps to minimise our impact on the environment, and will assess our success annually.

K9 Protection Ltd will encourage the adoption of similar principles by its suppliers and will ask for written assurances.
